Artist's Comments

I figured some people (like 3 or 4) might be interested in how my latest self looks like in progress.

No tutorial or walkthrough here. It's basically the same rendering technique as my last self somewhere in my gallery (which has a walkthrough of my process in the comments).

1. Cleaned-up lineart.
2. Flats in midtones.
3. Really loose placement of lights and shadows with the default round paintbrush. I really wanted to render that hand...
4. After blending everything together with the same brush at a lower opacity, and without the linework.

I was gonna match it with those Runaways drawings, and that's why it initially had a beige-y background.

Hopefully that was at least slightly interesting to look at. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I think I can follow you up to 3. Are you just useing black and white for shading/lights or are you using a gradient map or something? And you just drop the opacity of like white to somewhere around 10% and take out the line layer?

I've never considered taking out the line layer completely. I guess if your colors are tight enough you can just delete it?

If you take a look at some of my crap I'd love any advice.

Thanks for this post. It's really cool of you to "give back".
