But if you think you know all there is to know about her, think again. The secret she keeps sheds new light on the mysteries of Morning Glory Academy! "Just as strong as Spencer’s writing is Joe Eisma’s artwork. Though the style of his art differs considerably from the striking work of the cover artist, Rodin Esquejo, Eisma’s efforts in no way suffer from comparison. He utilizes strong, clean lines that provide plenty of detail." —Ross Haralson, SilverBullet.com THE HIT BOOK OF 2010 BEGINS A NEW STORY ARC! THE PERFECT JUMP-ON POINT AT AN ALL-NEW LOWER PRICE!
February 2011 solicits are out, so I'll go ahead and post issue #7's cover.
I like certain elements, but like issue #6, it didn't turn out exactly how I had hoped. I was working on the cover to the volume 1 trade at the same time and probably put most of my energy into that, so this cover suffered. I was also doing these covers in the days leading to NYCC, so this was colored sitting on the floor of Terminal 4 at JFK airport at 4 in the morning.
How do you blend the skin to make it look so life-like and natural? Do you use a tool to smooth it out? Or do you use hard colors and just blend that way? Please tell me your secret! ;]
yeah, it shows some small deviation from your normal coloring. Just a few places where we'd normally see a bit more "work" in your figures. Still, nothing to slouch at and it's a fine figure.
I really like the figure and the detail in the pom poms. The color scheme is nice, too. I'm not digging the halftone texture overlapping the figure. It's really subtle so it looks like a mistake in parts. Like on her leg. Everything else looks awesome and even tiny bits like that are nothing when I see the piece as a whole.
Grats on the flattering writeup
